Md Mahmudul (Piash) Islam
Research Associate (Ruark Lab)
Dr. Islam is working as a postdoctoral research associate in the Ruark Lab. He received his Ph.D. in Agriculture from Hokkaido University in Japan, where he worked on the development of biochar-based slow-release fertilizers to improve the efficiency of nutrients.
His areas of specialization are sustainable nutrient cycling, soil amendment biogeochemistry, and nutrient management. He holds a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Soil, Water, and Environment from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. His current work integrates soil, meteorological, and crop management data to enhance nitrogen fertilizer recommendations for corn productivity in Wisconsin.
In his free time, he enjoys traveling to explore new places and gardening to connect with nature.
