PhD Student (Zhang Lab)
Mingxuan joined Dr. Yakun Zhang’s Soils and Landscape Analysis Lab in 2025. His PhD research focuses on developing a comprehensive framework for the measurement, mapping, and dynamic analysis of soil organic carbon (SOC) under different management practices and environmental conditions.
He is particularly interested in evaluating and disentangling the performance and underlying mechanisms of mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy in predicting SOC and its fractions. In addition, he aims to integrate machine learning approaches with process-based models to better understand SOC dynamics under varying land management and climate scenarios. Outside of research, he enjoys working out, hiking, cycling, cooking a variety of Chinese dishes, and relaxing on the couch with a good movie or TV series.
