WPVGA HONORS MATT RUARK

Congratulations to Matt Ruark (Professor, Dept. of Soil Science) on recently being named the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Grower BCS Chair by the Wis. Potato and Vegetable Growers Assoc. (WPVGA). The chair was established by the WPVGA honoring the contributions of Professors Larry Binning, David Curwen, and John Schoenemann (hence “B-C-S” in the name). The chair is awarded to a mid-career, tenured faculty member in CALS with an established and productive research portfolio addressing the impact of potatoes and/or vegetables on water, economics, and the environment. The WPVG BCS Chair is awarded for a 5-year term, from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2028. The professorship provides $85,000 per year to support research activities, including supplies, equipment, research assistants, publications, summer salary and other activities that enhance the recipient’s work. We are proud to have Matt representing the department and college in this capacity.
